SA security startup launches world’s first WhatsApp security chatbot

A South African security startup and medical response platform, AURA, in partnership with Tracker, has launched the world’s first WhatsApp security chatbot. 

Locals will be able to request armed response service simply via WhatsApp

The new and innovative service will allow South Africans to request immediate mobile armed response assistance by sharing their location pin on WhatsApp. 

The new offering is powered by both the experts and technology of AURA and Tracker’s unique Tracker CareGuard service. 

Warren Myers, Founder, and CEO of AURA explains that the new service aims to assist in combatting crime in South Africa. 

“The Tracker CareGuard service is another important step towards increasing the accessibility of crucial emergency services in South Africa where the vast majority of people are unable to afford the benefits of private security.”

How does it work?

The new service is connected to AURA’s countrywide network that is comprised of 1500 armed responders.

 Through the use of artificial intelligence and machine learning, the AURA-backed Tracker CareGuard solution ensures that the closest responders are dispatched to a distress call.

The service can be tested by saving 0861 222 781 as a WhatsApp contact on their mobile device and typing ‘Hi’ in the chat to initiate a demonstration.

Myers explains that by tapping into a widely used instant messaging platform, the service can be provided to all South Africans and create an inclusive security landscape. 

“WhatsApp is used by over two billion people in over 180 countries. With such widespread popularity and reach in South Africa, WhatsApp is the most coherent delivery tool to put private security in the hands of those who need it at an affordable price point. Such a tool is not only easy to use but is easily shareable too, making it a quick and responsive means of fighting crime.” 

With South African ranked as the third most dangerous country in the world in Numbeo’s 2021 crime index, the need for an instant and easy-to-use armed response service is critical to the safety of locals.
