According to the survey, 46% of respondents reported saving more than half of their usual shopping budget by using the platform. Temu’s success mirrors the rapid growth of e-commerce in South Africa. The survey found that 64% of respondents are shopping online more frequently compared to a year ago. Key drivers include:

  • Price comparison tools: 56%.
  • 24/7 shopping access: 53%.
  • A wider product range: 51%.

For South African shoppers, price remains the top priority, with 65% stating it is the most important factor when making a purchase. Temu’s direct-from-factory model eliminates middlemen, offering products at significantly lower prices without compromising on quality.
