Want to #PitchGhana? Join Silicon Cape’s next trade mission
Looking to expand your startup and network into Ghana? Silicon Cape could help you out. The entrepreneurial catalyst is opening up applications for all startups interested in being part of its latest trade mission, which is scheduled to hit the country in August this year.
Following its successful Pitch London trip, the South African entrepreneurs who join this Silicon Cape mission will have the opportunity to meet Ghanaian startups, pitch to investors as well as gain insight into the West African country’s emerging tech scene. Although it’s just a proposed visit at this stage, the group says it will move ahead if there is enough interest from the startup community.
According to Silicon Cape, the trade mission, which is being organised in conjunction with web solutions and online marketing company Bluegrass Digital, is designed to encourage trade and partnership opportunities between South Africa and Ghana. Specifically, it aims to:
- Give feasible South African start-ups the opportunity to extend their networks into Ghana.
- Get exposure for Ghanaian start-ups and take back learnings to the South African market, in order to create synergy and forge relationships amongst the two countries.
- Build a stronger relationship within the Silicon Cape Community as a place of shared ideas and resources.
- Take the learnings from this experience and educate other start-ups to encourage further development and job creation.
- To visit tech hubs, collaborate and pitch business ideas.
Although the mission is open to all South African tech startups, they do need to meet certain requirements (like being operational for more than a year, and have the right documentation and financial statements). Any interested entrepreneurs can find out more details on Silicon Cape’s website and apply for a spot online before 17 May.
