Venture Talk: Accelerators & Incubators in SA with Andrea Böhmert
Accelerators and incubators, are they good or bad for startups? There is a strong sense that despite startups needing a helping hand, whether that might be with funding, work space, facilities or network, there could be a negative effect that these programmes have upon young companies — namely that they never learn to walk on their own two feet.
Mich Atagana chats to Andrea Böhmert in our latest Venture Talk, the co-founder of the newly launched Grindstone Accelerator Programme, designed for post-revenue companies, about the pros and cons of these kinds of programmes.
What comes out of this talk is that there is an “expectation mismatch” of what young companies are capable of once they graduate from a programme, leading to a trend of programme-hopping.
Watch on for an engaging talk about the nature of incubators and accelerators, what can be gained from them, and what should be expected from participating in them.
