Facebook acquires its first Indian startup in Little Eyes Lab
Facebook is taking the emerging markets seriously, with rumours of Facebook Africa coming. The company has acquired an Indian startup, Little Eyes Lab, that makes analytics software. This is the first Indian company to be acquired by Facebook.
“We’re very excited to announce that Facebook is acquiring our company,” Little Eyes Lab announced on its site this week. “With this acquisition, Little Eye Labs will join forces with Facebook to take its mobile development to the next level! This is Facebook’s first acquisition of an Indian company, and we are happy to become part of such an incredible team.”
Last month TechCrunch speculated that the company would be acquired by Facebook and put the deal around US$10-million to US$15-million range.
Little Eye Labs was founded about a year ago and focused on building tools for Mobile developers. The company pre-Facebook purchased was backed by GSF and VenturEast Tenet Fund. This acquisition will the entire Little Eye Labs team move to Facebook’s headquarters in Menlo Park, California. The company’s core business is developing testing and analytics tool for Android developers to improve app performance.
“From there, we’ll be able to leverage Facebook’s world-class infrastructure and help improve performance of their already awesome apps. For us, this is an opportunity to make an impact on the more than 1-billion people who use Facebook,” says the company.
The company will continue building analysis tools to help develop apps.
