Leading tech companies MTN, SAP, Microsoft provide support for Ampion Africa
Ampion Africa recently announced that leading global technology companies MTN, SAP and Microsoft had become its major sponsors, in a joint effort to help develop innovative solutions on the continent.
To highlight the NGO’s need for support, Ampion launched a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo in September in an effort to support the Venture Bus startup tour.
Ampion says it will utilise this momentum to mobilise support for its remaining crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo. Reaching the overall crowdfunding goal of €50 000 will enable Ampion to set up a Fellowship Programme for a maximum amount of African startups and entrepreneurs with considerable funding and incubation. So far the campaign has raised over €7 000 with still a week to go.
Free hardware and bandwidth granted by Inmarsat will provide the AMPION Venture Buses with satellite connectivity while SAP, Microsoft and MTN will support the NGO financially for long-term impact.
Additionally, Microsoft will provide free software and training for the winning startups of the Venture Bus tour.
Global healthcare leader Merck will be Ampion’s prime sponsor for the East African Venture Bus. Participants on the Venture Bus travelling from Tanzania to Rwanda will specifically focus on developing e-Health solutions.
According to Fabian-Carlos Guhl Founder & MD, Ampion, highlights the significance of this support for Africa’s developing startup space:
Sponsoring and partnering with Ampion is an investment into the African mobile technology, startups and ICT space of tomorrow — and the creative entrepreneurs behind it. We are proud that world leading companies are convinced that our work is making a difference and decided to be a part of it.
