Startup Picnic initiative to celebrate GEW with beers and a braai in SA
What better way to network than having a South African picnic?
In celebration of Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) taking place in the week of 17 November, Tiisetso Maloma in association with The Hope Factory, ACM Gold, WEY (Woman Emancipate Yourself) and eKasi Entrepreneurs, are hosting Startup Picnic — a networking event for entrepreneurs in South Africa.
The initiative looks to connect entrepreneurs, angel investors, VCs and incubators across difference backgrounds by having a braai, drinks, delicious food and exhibitions.
GEW aims to inspire young minds to collaborate and unleash ideas relating to entrepreneurship. So it’s to no surprise then that Startup Picnic will host inspiring guest speakers such as co-founder of ACM Gold and investor Irfan Pardessi. Pardessi is well know for taking ACM Gold from US$22 000 — without funding or financing — to a group valuation of over US$450-million.
Other speakers are, Busta Madiba, an experiential marketer and founder of Gushima Events & Productions, and Puseletso Modimogale, WEF founder and business mentor at The Hope Factory.
Startup Picnic is sponsored by The Hope Factory which provides extensive mentoring and support programmes so that enterprises are set for success. The Hope Factory’s CEO Annie McWalter explains the importance of events like these within the context of GEW:
From 17 to 23 November, we are joining entrepreneurs across the world to commemorate GEW. We have picked events where we’d like to add value by assisting startup entrepreneurs succeed in their ventures. This is what GEW is all about — to bring ideas to life, drive economic growth and expand human welfare.
The event will take place 22 November at CSIR Sports & Recreation Club in Pretoria. For more information, click here.
