Snapplify’s innovative ebook distribution hub wins FutureBook Award
South African ebook distributor Snapplify is really making a name for itself locally and abroad. The latest affirmation of its vision going forward is an award it recently won for its innovative ebook distribution tech — the SnappBox.
At the FutureBook Awards, Snapplify won the Tech Innovation category for its ebook hardware distribution solution SnappBox .
SnappBox is a hardware distribution solution for ebooks which enables users to access digital reading material via their intranet as opposed to downloading individually via the internet. This method is said to be most effective for larger institutions such as schools and universities.

Snapplify trumped seven other innovations to win the category, including Foyles, Rook, ValoBox, Cambridge Publishing Solutions, Ricoh Europe, Blackwells, and WriteLaTeX.
This solution apparently impressed both the judges and other attendees at the event.
Joe Lennon, CTO of ePubDirect said: “We were impressed by Snapplify on many levels – the importance of the problems they are solving, the technology they are building to do so, and the elegance of how they deliver content where bandwidth is limited or not available at all.”
Mark Seabrook, Digital Director at Penguin Random House SA, reiterates saying that, “Snapplify have proven to be innovative content aggregators by providing publishers with robust distribution channels, enabling them to tap into global and emerging markets.”
Seabrook why this technology is so important pointing out that it manages to bridge the gap between content publishers and consumers:
Their schools solution and SnappBox technology is changing the way South African students learn and making the problem of accessibility of textbooks a thing of the past. Publishers can now get their ebooks to students via one centralised platform, where they can read eBooks, make notes and save everything safely to the cloud. Snapplify removes the barrier to entry for publishers, making the process smooth and easy for both publisher and student.
