Travelstart’s Flapp wants to be the go-to tool for SA’s busiest flight route
Flapp — a portmanteau of Flight App — is online travel booking site Travelstart‘s entry into the app market. The recently released app is touted as “the two tap booking app” for Cape Town to Johannesburg flights and vice versa.
According to Travelstart, Flapp has been designed to specifically cover the two-hour Cape Town to Johannesburg route, which is among the busiest in the world. It will not be a spin-off of Travelstart, but rather its own brand with its own target audience.
The company found that last year 43% of bookings for the route were booked under a week in advance, and over 90% of these were paid via credit card. Flapp takes this data into account and offers a seven-day purchase window for flights and facilitates credit card payments. It also allows for same-day bookings as long as the time-frame doesn’t exceed two hours before departure.
The company has further stated 33% of customers book one-way tickets as opposed to 67% who book return.
Travelstart’s app covers all local airlines, such as FlySafair, Skywise, SAA, and Mango, among others. All pricing is updated in real-time and is the first thing users see when checking flights. The route plan can be easy switched at the tap of a button and will immediately update all flight data. This creates an easy to choose system when picking your ideal airline.
The lightweight app’s interface is smooth and secure. Credit card details can be saved to the app for booking purposes, making the entire process relatively easy.
Travelstart’s Flapp app is available on both Android & iOS and is free of charge. The Android version is intentionally slightly lighter in design.
