Bring the social online news room to your business with Pressat

This is very interesting. Let’s say your business has successfully expanded into the UK with some help, and you’re ready to let the market know about your product. What’s the best way to get the word out? Good question. May we suggest having a look at Pressat, a press release distribution and online publishing service.

To start, Pressat — developed by Manchester agency Atmedia — will take your press release and distribute it to targeted media outlets across the UK. For a flat fee of £50, your press release is assigned to a member of the Pressat editorial team, who hand picks the most relevant media outlets for your news. Outlets include newsdesks, journalists, TV, radio, newspapers, print, magazines, bloggers, niche websites, consumer and targeted news websites. The service also spreads your news through social media platforms.

Beyond simply distributing your press releases, Pressat provides a service called “Your little space” which they describe as a “brandable social newsroom for businesses, brands and organisations wishing to open up communication channels with the media.” You can think of it as a blog tailored for press releases.

It’s actually quite brilliant.

Here’s an example of a company’s Pressat newsroom would look like. It lists the company’s press releases on a branded page that includes a short description of the company, share buttons for social services like Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn, contact information and the company’s Twitter timeline. The newsroom also provides an RSS link, allowing journalists to keep up to date on the company’s doings.

Newsrooms are regularly crawled by major news aggregators meaning a companies’ press releases will automatically be syndicated across a host of news sites in the UK.

Companies using the service will have to fork over £50 per press release, which might seem rather expensive at first, but the pricing is actually quite competitive and cost effective for startups who have small budgets.
