Wait. Simon Cowell and will.i.am are on the hunt for the next Steve Jobs?
Simon Cowell is looking for the next big tech entrepreneur. Why am I not surprised? The music producer and former American Idol judge has set his sights on the tech industry, reports The Sun.
The show will be based on the same premise of Cowell’s current show, The X Factor, and will see the veteran music industry heavyweight team up with American rapper, will.i.am.
“We’re working on a project called X Factor for Tech — and it’s going to be out of this world,” said the rapper.
The hope of the show is to find the next wave of tech industry innovators, the future Mark Zuckerbergs, Bill Gates’ and Steve Jobs’ of the world.
“Singing and performance create a couple of jobs. But this will create lots. It’s about getting in touch with youth and giving them a platform to express themselves — whether that’s in science or mathematics,” said The Black Eyed Peas star.
There is very little detail about the show right now, from when it will début to the exact format. Though from what we can gather if show uses the basic premise of the X Factor, it seems hopeful entrepreneurs will be pitch their ideas to an all-star panel of judges. The location of the show is also currently unknown.
We have to wonder if the judges will include actual tech entrepreneurs or just a consortium of Hollywood celebrities who just happen to have money to invest.
You know tech is hot right now because the entertainment industry just can’t get enough of it. Another reality show based on tech entrepreneurs is set to début in the United States in a few weeks. The show which will be aired on Bravo is set to star seven Silicon Valley movers and shakers including an executive producer role by Randi Zuckerberg, the sister of Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg.
