Virtual Firehouse, winner of Cape Town’s first Startup Weekend and Karma Footprint, who pitched at the newly launched Google for Entrepreneurs, were singled out as runner ups for the competition.
The Startup Knight competition saw 15 finalists — all South African software based tech startups — pitch their ideas to a panel of judges at the Byte Orbit offices. Prior to their pitching session each startup was interviewed to get an insight of what their general thoughts were on the tech scene in South Africa. The interviews were recorded and Byte Orbit will be publishing the video on their YouTube channel as soon as it is back from editing.
The competition reached its conclusion at the Startup Knight Cocktail Evening at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Granger Bay.
Following the success of the inaugural event, Byte Orbit plans to run Startup Knight again in 2013. More information about Startup Knight 2013 will be made available via social media and online publications early next year.
