Earlier this year, we took an in-depth look at U-Start, the international funding platform with an emerging market focus. Headquartered in Italy, the platform is running a search for six of South Africa’s top startups to showcase to investors in Milan.

U-Start’s online platform connects entrepreneurs with international investors. Startups that are keen to enter, are urged to contact U-Start to gain complimentary access to the U-Start platform and instructions on how to apply for the competition.
15 of the most investment ready startups in the seed and growth stage of their business will be chosen to present to a local judging panel — the group will be whittled down to six winners.
Winners will be awarded flights and accommodation for four nights in Milan, Italy. They will also receive mentorship, incubation, training, one-on-one introductions to pan-European investors as well as client and supplier introductions.
One year’s free access to U-Start and cash prizes are up for grabs, and the winning startups will be pre-selected for the Cape Town chapter of Seedstars World.
Applications close on 11 March 2013. Members entering on behalf of the startups are required to have a valid passport and must be able to travel between 10 May and 14 May 2013.
