The platform allows people to choose a meal. Foodpanda processes the order to the restaurant, which delivers the meal to the person’s doorstep.
Currently, Ételvitel KFT has more than 200 partner restaurants in Budapest only. The takeover is designed to spread Foodpanda’s influence within the country, where it has been operating for three months.
According to Foodpanda it, along with its affiliated brand hellofood, has become the online food delivery service with the widest geographical reach in the country.
Zsolt Capo, country managing director of Foodpanda in Hungary says: “With the takeover of Ételvitel KFT’s services, foodpanda strengthens its position in the Hungarian market. Ételvitel and its strong partnerships will help us to expand the range of different types of restaurants. Foodpanda means to order the best food with just a few clicks – simple, fast and convenient.”
Ralf Wenzel, Foodpanda’s global managing director meanwhile reckons that “this takeover is the logical consequence of the tremendous growth in the last months. Foodpanda is a global movement, rolling out fast to provide the greatest variety of food in over 25 countries. More steps will follow: we are ready to grow and become number one in every market.”
Foodpanda claims that it helps restaurants increase sales through online and mobile platforms (iOS and Android) and provides them with “constantly evolving technology and analytics”.
For consumers meanwhile Foodpanda says it offers an online marketplace “with [the] widest gastronomic range, including e.g. salads, vegetables, pizza, burger and sushi”.
Foodpanda currently operates in Poland, Ukraine, Hungary, Russia, Nigeria, Morocco, Kenya, Senegal, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Peru, Mexico, Brazil, Colombia, Chile, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, India, Malaysia, Taiwan, Pakistan, Argentina and Venezuela.
Rocket Internet claims that Foodpanda reaches over three-billion people and over 10 000 restaurants around the world.
Rocket Internet has a massive portfolio of companies around the world, with most operating on a select few models, cloned off previously successful online startups.
