Nigerian startup Knack launches affordable laptop and tablets

Knack International Limited launched a trio of smart devices and a laptop over the weekend. The young startup from Nigeria is attempting to provide local tablets, smartphones, laptops as well as support services.

The company states that it has a specific target that will focus on personal individuals, students, and businesses as the key market segment.

Knack is a young startup company that focuses on providing hardware as well as ICT solutions in an attempt to position itself as a top brand in the African market space. Providing both a product and a service, Knack wants to establish long term relationships with organizations and groups who are price aware. The aim, Knack states, is to provide “state-of-the-art computers and computer related products, along with a plan for integration of computer technologies into clients’ day-to-day business operations at a minimal cost.”

Part of trying to provide quality yet affordable tablets, laptops and accessories the company released its first product line at the National Centre for Technology Management in Nigeria. These include a 13-inch laptop dressed in an all-white smooth design as well as two post 7-inch tablets with the one doubling as a smartphone.

The full range of specifications of these devices provided on the company’s Facebook page is listed below. The price of the laptop is said to be US$433 while the prices of the two tablet models are still unclear but said to be affordable.

Given the fact that the company is quite new, some of the information provided still seems to be a bit scratchy. However, this will hopefully improve as the company grows.

Although we have seen African tablets as well as initiatives such as Microsoft’s 4Afrika Huawei smartphone released earlier this year, the fact that a startup such as Knack International is moving in the hardware space is extremely exciting. This, above all, is even further established with the company’s strong support for service-delivery and quality long term relationship support philosophy.
