Eight of App Korea’s early-stage startups are currently readying themselves to head to the TechCrunch Disrupt event in San Francisco. On the way, the startups are hoping for more international recognition and to highlight innovation in the Southeast Asian region.

The startups are offering services ranging from cloud services, translation, e-commerce, travel, photo curation, e-learning, social networking and even K-pop video streaming. The trip is sponsored by KOCCA (Korea Creative Content Agency) while the startups will present themselves from 9 to 11 September at the Korean Pavilion in Startup Alley. So, who are they?
Cubbying is a one-touch social aggregator by Nalebe. The service collects 10 years of your life in under 10 minutes. Basically the service offers a simple way you can unify and back-up all social-networking information about yourself. It is also the winner of SuperApp Korea’s grand prize and Entrepreneur League Superstar-V’s Grand Prize.
Flitto is described as using crowdsourced translations in order to “smash” language barriers. Flitto is part of Springboard London’s alumni and is the winner of this year’s Superstar Mobile Startup Korea.
Levelpump, created by Twinword, is a service that is also language related. Basically you can pump up your vocabulary skills by receiving new English words customised for your individual level everyday for free. The service is also said to be able to collect thought patterns using word association tests.
Memoriant by Art and Technology Holdings is one of the finalists of this year’s Startup Battle Korea and K-Tech Global Korean Startup in SV 2012. Memoriant is a mobile application service that uses smart tags in order to collect and then present your social media photos and stories.
LoginD brings us My Image Test which utilizes survey and answer analysis systems. The service lets you send friends on social media questions about yourself. Strange but very popular, you can ask anonymous friends questions about your appearance or reputation for example.
With K-Pop gaining more and more international attention, it’s likely that you’ll find fans from all corners of the world that want to learn all the K-pop dance moves. Original K-Pop Dance by Wazzle Entertainment is an app that uses choreographers to teach you dance moves via your mobile phone or web-connected TVs.
Developed by iPortfolio, Travalloon is a travel app that uses the knowledge of local experts to help guide your travels. iPortfolio has also partnered with Oxford university Press and numerous travel contents providers to further improve its content and increase its audience.
The startup describes its service as being a next-gen LinkedIn for creative artists, portfolios and recruiting. Visumé, as it’s called, was developed by Easyworks Universe and is one of Qualcomm Ventures Qprize Korea regional winners as well as the winner of Super App Korea Bronze Prize.
