Zomato now provides in-depth information on over 350 restaurants in Pretoria, and claims to be the most exhaustive restaurant discovery platform in the city. Zomato’s design covers most diners’ needs, whether they are looking to eat out, have food delivered or pick up a take-away. Zomato prides itself on being the most comprehensive online guide, and contains information such as scanned menus, photos, map co-ordinates, as well as hosting an active community of user reviewers.

Pooja Khanna, CEO of Zomato South Africa, says of the launch:

“We’ve been expanding our geographical footprint aggressively over the past few months, and South Africa is an important market for us. The response from Johannesburg and Cape Town has been overwhelming. In addition to the large number of users we see visiting Zomato, restaurant owners also see the value that Zomato adds to their business, and we’re expecting this trend to continue in Pretoria as well.”

Zomato conducted intensive research into restaurants in Pretoria and the data revealed some interesting facts:

  • Pretoria has a total of around 350 restaurants
  • Fast food restaurants and cafes make up about 35% of the 350 restaurants
  • outside of fast food and pizza, African and Italian are the dominant cuisines being served in the city with about 70 restaurants

It’s mobile app has the full feature-set of the website, and uses geo-location software to allow users to see restaurants near their physical location. It is available for iOS, Android, Windows Phone and BlackBerry.

Zomato is available in seven other countries, including its HQ India, UK, Sri Lanka, and the Phillipines.
