Six students from the HBS will join iMoney in Kuala Lumpur for a week to gain real-life experience working in the field. iMoney is Asia’s leading financial product comparison website, and allows customers to view the best home loans, personal loans, car insurance, credit card and deposit rates in the region, with the convenience of applying to any bank online.

“We are happy to be able to provide real-life experience with this group of Harvard Business School students in Malaysia.” said Lee Ching Wei, Group CEO & Co-founder of iMoney. “We feel certain that the students will be able to arm themselves with knowledge and experience that they would never be able to glean from a classroom discussion alone.”

FIELD, a first-year course at the HBS’s two-year MBA programme, has three modules that run throughout the entire first year. Together they are designed to:

  • Develop individual leadership skills through team feedback and self-reflection
  • Develop global intelligence by immersing students in a foreign country to develop a new product or service
  • Bring together all lessons to challenge students to develop and launch their own micro-business as part of a small team back in Boston

Already the team has been working with iMoney remotely, and upon arrival in January they will pitch their ideas for a new product or service to the leadership team, conduct field research with consumers, and present their final recommendations to management.

iMoney is one of 140 FIELD Global Partners spanning ten countries around the world, together they host more than 900 students in all.

“We are extremely grateful to iMoney and all the FIELD Global Partner organisations for all they do on behalf of our students,” said Professor Alan MacCormack, the faculty head of FIELD. “The students benefit immeasurably from this experience and we hope the partner organisations do as well.”
