Thinking of opening up shop in the cloud this year, or diversifying your existing services? In an effort to shed some light on where SMEs should focus on, Bigcommerce released this infographic highlighting the top current trends where the industry is showing growth.
Bigcommerce is one of the world’s most popular ecommerce platforms used by small businesses. Over 50,000 online stores currently use the software, including automotive, pet care and wedding merchandise.
It’s interesting to note how smaller etailers are given a voice and a presence to compete with larger companies. Bridal, toy, and arts and craft stores are beating the bigger guys to the punch, the data found.
Most impressively, automotive stores using Bigcommerce are showing a massive 89% growth rate in revenue. This is one of the many areas where startup incubator Rocket Internet placed its bets. Last year we saw the unified launch of Carmudi — the collaborative online shop for car dealers showing positive indicators for growth.
Since its launch, monthly visits to Carmudi Nigeria, for instance, have increased by a massive 35 000% since April 2013.
Furthermore, the infographic shows jewelry and accessories to be one of the healthiest areas with an overall 31% growth in revenues. One of the slowest performers was the books, music and video industry showing negative growth up to nearly 20% of revenue as well as overall demand, respectively.
