South African Breweries (SAB) is celebrating Nelson Mandela Day in the spirit of entrepreneurship on 18 July. At The Lean Jump event, 67 startups from Gauteng, South Africa are encouraged to present their business ideas in just over a minute each, in order to partake in SAB KickStart development programme and standing a chance of winning a share of R300 000 investment.

Entrepreneurs with successful pitches on Mandela Day will be provided with six months of virtual business mentorship as well as grant funding to invest in growing their business idea or business operations currently not older than 6 months.
The initiative is born out of the youth entrepreneurship programme SAB KickStart, The Hookup Dinner (THUD), and Edge Growth. It’s called The Lean Jump which will focus on entrepreneurs in Gauteng, South Africa.
The main aim of The Lean Jump programme is to instill a culture of entrepreneurship among young South Africans. This will be done by offering leading startup development support, invest in relevant industries and sectors, and develop and further a relationship between enterprise development and startups.

Once they complete their 6-month business intervention programme, SAB KickStart will provide 10 successful candidates with an opportunity to participate in its youth entrepreneurship development competition and a chance of winning R300 000 seed fund.
