Uber is bringing its enterprise-like offering to Africa, meet Uber for Business

Uber is shaking things up with its latest offering Uber for Business. The enterprise space is hotly contested right now and everyone’s favourite private driver is digging in for its share. According to the service, it wants to assist businesses with very mobile employees. How? By assisting business travelers to “move with ease and get where they need to go”.

The new enterprise offering was launched earlier this year in parts of North America and Europe. Uber says that since the launch it has seen “Uber for Business” trips take place in more than 120 cities across 35 countries.

“Today we are excited to announce that it is open for business in all 45 uber countries (including South Africa) — fully translated in 22 languages,” says the service. “Now in more than 200 cities, the Uber for Business technology platform is the most reliable, efficient and seamless way for businesses to connect with transportation globally.”

The new offering allows SMEs to set up an Uber account, that provides a centralised billing system, where business administrators have access to a travel dashboard and budget management — at no additional cost.

The way it works is that employees can bill their rides to a single card on file, cutting down multiple company credit cards and reimbursements.

“We’ve been in love with Uber since it launched so we are very excited to upgrade our Evernote EMEA team to Uber Business,” Cristina Riesen, General Manager, Evernote (EMEA). “It is the perfect complement to the modern workspace, allowing our team members to seamlessly travel for work while at the same time minimising time spent on expense reports.”

According to Uber employees have access to this new payment option in their Uber app and with products offered at every price point. This offering makes sense for business who don’t want worry about hiring cars for employees on business trips overseas and locally.
