Innotribe Startup Challenge seeking Africa’s top fintech talent

Africa has a knack for financial startups. Now, to captalise and promote this growing sector, renowned global financial tech conference Innotribe Startup Challenge 2015 is coming to the continent.

The Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication’s (SWIFT) is hoping to find Africa’s most talented fintech startups at the African Regional Conference (ARC) happening May 2015 in Cape Town, South Africa.

The Innotribe Startup Challenge 2015 will host tech startups financial service experts, angel investors, venture capitalists, and global leading fintech and financial decision-makers — the whole shebang.

Over 500 industry experts will judge the companies that have applied, ensuring that the semi-finalists selected are addressing current industry issues.

Christian Sarafidis, Head of Western Europe, Middle East & Africa, says: “ARC is already a unique event for the financial industry, creating a collaborative space where participants can gather to share experiences and look for solutions to common challenges.”

Since its inception in 2011, the Innotribe Startup Challenge has grown in popularity and success, with over 280 startups applying to pitch at the competition in 2014 which was held in London, Singapore and New York.

The 20 companies selected automatically secure their place as finalists in the Innotribe Startup Challenge Grand Finale, taking place at Sibos, one the world’s premier financial services event organised by SWIFT and held in Singapore.

Companies seeking a spot in the competition need to apply before mid-February.
