With operations stretching from Uzbekistan to Nigeria and the Philippines, Kaymu offers an online market service that enables businesses and individuals to sell items. The online marketplace is backed by Africa Internet Group.

Kaymu has long been active in initiatives promoting online merchants and buyers in Nigeria. Last year, the company introduced a Referral Scheme to allow sellers to generate revenue by recommending the service to others.

Managing director of Kaymu Evangeline Wiles said in a press statement on AllAfrica: “Most businesses fail within their first five years of existence. Inadequate startup capital and proper training are two of the biggest reasons for that failure. With this initiative, Kaymu will not only provide training but will also give the best applicant the initial investment capital.”

“This is a unique opportunity for entrepreneurs in Nigeria to start an online business. We want to help nurture and grow the future of the Nigerian ecommerce market,” she added.

Since inception Kaymu has been driving entrepreneurship in Nigeria with the creation of innovative campaigns like Kaymu Entrepreneurial Workshop, KaymuVarsiity and SME Saturdays amongst others.

Ecommerce competitors in the region, both Jumia and Konga, have similarly introduced online marketplaces for offline merchants. All in the spirit of driving ecommerce in the country, these marketplaces enable SMEs to showcase their products online, thereby reaching a larger and more targeted audience.
