Nigerian transport industry app MyQ has been crowned the winner of Seedstars World Lagos recently. Out of the 12 startups that pitched at the competition, MyQ was selected as the best startup in Nigeria and will go on to compete in Switzerland in February 2016 at the final pitching round.
The final prize, which will be awarded after the Seedstars World pitching round, consists of US$500 000 equity investment. Other prizes on offer include US$500 000 for best Travel Investment, and a US$50 000 grant for best startup space.

The event looks for smart startups that solve regional issues while developing profitable product for a global market.

MyQ is a mobile application that provides queue management, passenger loading, and ticketing services to the transport industry.
Naturally, Ishiaku Gwamna of MyQ was pleased with the win:
“I feel great, we are happy and we really appreciate winning the title. Both the bootcamp and the actual event were inspiring and we are really looking forward to see what’s next.”
There were 11 other competitors in the Seedstars World Lagos event. “This crop of entrepreneurs are different in that they came prepared to show why their products are market beaters and their business model differentiate,” said Tomi Davies, president of African Business Angel Network (ABAN), one of the members on the judging panel.
The runner-up awards went to Talentbase, a mobile HR & payroll software package, which took second place, while Nerveflo, a content distribution system came in third.
The award for most popular company went to Tembo, a social enterprise that provides early childhood education.
Seedstars World Lagos was organised in partnership with Stanbic IBTC, the main sponsor for the event. Further support was provided by Uber, CCHub, SimplePay, and Enspire Incubator and ABAN.
