When Angel Fair Africa rolls into Nairobi, Kenya for its fourth edition in November, it will aim to bring together more than 100 investors and entrepreneurs from within and outside the African startup ecosystem.
The goal of the conference is to get all those players — accelerators, incubators and emerging businesses from across the continent — doing as many deals as possible.

According to a press release sent to Venturburn, investors attending the conference come from Angel Africa List (the primary organising force behind the conference), East Africa Angel Network, Ghana Angel Investor Network, Lagos Angel Network, New Generation Angels, African Private Equity and Venture Capital Association, East Africa Venture Capital Association and Angel Capital Association.
This year’s event will feature a new peer selection process, which involves Chanzo bringing selected startups from Pivot East, Seedstars World, Demo Africa and previous Village Capital workshops. The entrepreneurs would pitch during the event, giving investors the opportunity to prioritise those they wish to meet.
According to Eric MK Osiakwan, co-founder of Angel Fair Africa, the Nairobi event aims to build on the successes of previous events Joburg (2013), Lagos (2014), and Accra (2015). These events, he says, resulted in a “small but significant” number of deals. For example, the Bertha Foundation invested in Vuyos, which pitched at the Joburg event and was later featured in Forbes Africa magazine. The Lagos Angels Network meanwhile invested in Hutbay and Autobox, during the 2014 event, while Zeepay announced its first seed investment deal at the Accra event in 2015.
Ross Baird, Executive Director of Village Capital said, “We are excited to partner with Chanzo Capital at this year’s Angel Fair Africa to implement the peer selection model and to make catalytic investments at the event in November 2016”.
At this stage, it’s unclear exactly which dates in November Angel Fair Africa will be held on, but updates will appear on the event site.
