Ecommerce travel venture Travelstart has relaunched its flagship flight-booking app Flapp. It has been expanded beyond its initial Cape Town and Johannesburg flight paths.
According to a press release sent to Ventureburn, Flapp now offers flights anywhere in the world. Customers are able to book any domestic or international flight from the app. This includes airlines such as Turkish Airlines, Lufthansa, and Delta Airlines.

“Flapp is like having Travelstart in your pocket – we have invested considerable resources in distilling the form and function of our website into an app environment and with 50 000 downloads across iOS and Android devices so far we’re really pleased with the outcome,” says head of communications at Travelstart, Russel Jarvis.
Along with this robust improvement, customers can also book additional features, such as travel insurance or flexi-tickets.

In February, Travelstart landed a US$40-million investment from MTN and Amadeus Capital Partners. Last year, the company acquired Hong Kong-based company Satisfly, who specialises in social intelligence.
Travelstart focuses on the philosophy of mobile ecommerce first, which is especially true in Africa with the rise of people using their phones for their digital needs.
It was founded in Sweden a decade ago, but moved to South Africa in 2009 in order to focus on emerging markets.
Flapp is available for download for Google Android and Apple iOS devices.
