3000 Kenyan women receive ecommerce training through Jumia

Nigerian ecommerce store, Jumia, in collaboration with SheCares International, is awarding 3000 Kenyan women the chance to undergo ecommerce training. This programme looks to empower them within the digital market.

The individual women were selected by the SheCares foundation at the inaugural Globel Women’s summit by Cabinet secretary for public service, youth and Gender affairs, Sicily Kariuk. The event was hosted in partnership with Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA).

“In a world that is going virtual, it is crucial that all actors in society have the training and tools they need to exploit the marketplace of tomorrow. This program is tailored to train these ambitious, enterprising women on technological tools they will need to succeed, and simple means to start generating new income streams, without investing more capital,” said managing director of Jumia, Sam Chappatte, in a press release to Ventureburn.

“Women are key agents for achieving transformational economic, environmental and social changes required for sustainable development in Kenya and globally,” said CEO of KEPSA, Carole Kariuki.

The Global Women’s summit has been in operation for over 23 years. During which it has strived to celebrate and connect women from all sectors in order to expand economic opportunities by way of creative strategies and innovative solutions.
