A source of technical and financial assistance to developing countries, World Bank, is hosting a masterclass at DEMO Africa. The class will deal with ways in which startups can be scaled with the right team.
Titled ‘Venture Growth Strategies – Scaling Your Business with the Right Team,’ the class aims to improve the knowledge and understanding of how to develop a thriving business while growing the team with essential members.

Attendees will also learn how to set up long-term and short-term goals and successfully execute them, as well as how to use legal agreements and various compensation mechanisms. They’ll also be taught the role of advisory boards and best practices around HR.
This year’s Demo Africa will 11 SA startups out of the 30 selected. The event will include speakers such as CEO and executive producer of Demo Africa, Harry Hare; editor and publisher of Stuff Magazine, Toby Shapshak; national coordinator of office for ICT Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Bunmi Okunowo; regional director of Africa Initiatives at Microsoft, Amrote Abdella. Other speakers also include President of African Business Angels Network, Harry Tomi Davies and Deputy Special Representative for Global Partnerships, Thomas Debass.

“The entries this year certainly kept up with the DEMO Africa spirit to produce innovative and creative ideas that are bound to transform the technology landscape and we are excited by the growth of innovation and technological advancement in Africa as portrayed by our finalists,” says Hare.
Established in 1944 with over 10 000 employees and 120 offices around the globe, World Bank has aimed to foster the growth of the bottom 40% of every country while aiming to decrease the percentage of the world living on less than US$1.90 a day. World Bank also strives to offer developing nations with crucial knowledge with regards to policy advice, research analysis, and technical assistance.
