Seedstars World is looking for 10 startup contestants in Uganda

Ugandan startups are in luck as international pitching competition Seedstars World is heading back to the country on 30 September. The event will be looking for the country’s best tech-based startup out of 10 contestants.

Entrepreneurs wanting to enter their startups will need to have a company that is less than two years old, has raised under US$500 00o in funding, and has a minimum viable product with traction. The competition is looking for profitable products that solve regional issues.

“This year’s theme of finding startup companies that will solve regional issues means that they will be able to drive their profitability while solving socio-economic issues,” says head of business banking at Stanbic Bank, Wayne Cook, in a press release to Ventureburn.

Only 10 startups will be chosen to compete.

The overall winner will attend the Seedstars World final in Switzerland in 2017 where they will compete for a US$50 000 equity prize.

“The startup ecosystem in Uganda has been growing exponentially and so does the quality of the startups themselves. We are looking forward to see what awaits us in this exciting place and cannot wait for our event on the 30th,” writes associate at Seedstars World Selam Kebede.

Those wanting to enter can visit the Seedstars World website.
