Kenya announces their 10 startups to pitch at Seedstars World

Global pitching event Seedstars World has announced the ten startups to pitch at the next event in Nairobi, Kenya on 7 October 2016.

Seedstars World Nairobi, taking place at PAWA254, will see 10 startups pitching for their place at the final event taking place in Switzerland in 2017. Here, startups will pitch in front of thousands of global investors, innovators, mentors and entrepreneurs for their shot at US$1-million in equity.

“Kenya has shown impressive development in the startup and tech entrepreneurship ecosystem not just within the country but also for Africa,” said Associate for Seedstars World, Selam Kebede in a press release.

Seedstars World Nairobi has partnered with some of the world’s biggest investors and banking firms

“The emerging markets and Africa at large provide ample scaling opportunities and unique clients,” said local ambassador Douglas Ogeto.

“Kenyan entrepreneurs should not be left behind in taking advantage of this while at the same time ensuring that they have a solid team to do so,” concluded Ogeto.

The 10 startups competing to represent Kenya are:

Lakt io – A secure mobile-first financial service and literacy platform for young adults.

OptiSmart Solutions – An ICT software solutions provider for integrated web and mobile platforms.

Kuza – An educational online service providing users with online farming video courses as well as one-on-one support and on-farm services.

Ujuzi Software Solutions Ltd – An AML software solutions company which delivers quality assurance along with various other services.

Flexpay Technologies – Allows consumers to purchase goods through small gradual payments.

Mobilized Construction – A construction company which maintains and monitors rural roads through environmentally friendly methods with a degree of benefits to local employees.

Farmers Pride – A social enterprise which aims to improve the welfare and income of farmers.

Olivine Technology –  Provides a POS and stock management solution through multiple sites.

Student Finance Africa (SFA) –  Claims to be Africa’s first private higher education student loan initiative.

iNuka Pap limited – Is a mobile loan platform which aims to provide emergency financial services to members of a Savings and Credit Cooperative Society and Micro Finance Institutions.
