The Rwandan winner, Kasha is a startup which delivers female health products through their accessible retail mobile platform. They took the crown for Best Startup due to their online and offline solution.

“Kasha exists because women are the biggest business opportunity and the way women access health products today is an uncomfortable and embarrassing experience. Technology can enable confidential access to women’s health products at scale,” said co-founder and CEO of Kasha, Joanna Bichsel in a press release to Ventureburn.

“I am incredibly excited to have won Seedstars Kigali. The entrepreneurs that have won across Africa are all driven to change the face of business and technology globally,” she concluded.

The Rwandan competition was held with support from Rwanda Online as well as the local ambassador Aphrodice Mutangana. Additional support was provided by Microsoft4Afrika as well as Intel, Lionesses of Africa and Brussels Airlines.

“We are so happy to welcome Seedstars World community/family in the country of (a) thousand hills and (a) million smiles. Host (sic) Seedstars Africa mean a lot to us as Rwanda has been a focal point and home of startups,” said Mutangana.

Startup Quick Ride found themselves in second place while MindSky took third to close out the top three. Other startups which were invited to pitch include SteadyBits, Blue Innovation, Segen Afrika, MobiCash, Dope Apps, UPlus Mutual Partners, Gawana, GO, VugaPay and Raisins.

Seedstars Kigali is the last event for Seedstars Africa and will also serve as the opening event for the Seedstars World Africa Conference. This three-day event will culminate with a full-day conference as well as a pitching event which will have more than 300 entrepreneurs, founders and investors coming together to share and collaborate on potential ventures.
