Reel Gardening takes home Agripreneur of the Year Award

South Africam gardening startup, Reel Gardening has taken home the prestigious Agripreneur of the Year Award at the Future Agro Challenge (FAC) held in Johannesburg.

Founder of Reel Gardening, Claire Reid bested eight other competitors in a live pitching competition.

Last year’s winner, Nicolás Morelli commented on Reid’s victory. “Winning the championship opened many doors for me and I look forward to seeing what Reid will achieve being propelled from this platform,” in a press release to Ventureburn.

As the winner of the competition, Reid will be receiving ongoing mentorship, partner possibilities, as well as the chance to expand her business into different markets.

Reel Gardening is an innovative gardening solution which uses 80% less water for stronger yields

Reel Gardening produces biodegradable seed tape, a seed system which can be grown in either a vegetable or herb garden in almost any climate, taking just five minutes to plant. Its solution uses 80% less water, yielding months of food. The Reel Gardening app also helps with planting and growing your own garden.

One of the co-founders of FAC, Carla Tanas, also commented on the win. “A warm congratulations to Claire Reid, we are excited that our championships was held for the first time in its third leg in South Africa and crowning a South African as the most innovative agripreneur.”

We wish our 2017 Agripreneur of the Year winner all the best and hope that her business continues to grow and serve the communities in which she operates in,” concluded FAC co-founder Michalis Stangos.
