The Foschini Group produces another initiative powered by a startup

Startup Pargo and major retail corporation The Foschini Group (TFG) have partnered again to launch their Collect In Store initiative.

TFG and Pargo, which helps co-ordinate deliveries, previously partnered to launch TFG’s Deliver 2 Me service.

The Collect In Store project will allow customers to purchase their items online and collect them at their nearest TFG store within an eight-day period.

The initiative will be tested across @home, Foschini, Markham, Sportscene and Totalsports stores within the Western Cape before expanding nationally.

Lars Veul and Derk Hoekert (pictured left and right, respectively), directors and co-founders at Pargo commented on the recent partnership in a press release to Ventureburn.

“An increased number of retailers are offering click-and-collect as a more convenient delivery alternative to meet their customers’ demands. We provide the system-driven processes and storage location system to reduce parcel retrieval times while parcels are stored safely, both leading to a seamless customer experience.”

The two added that they have seen a significant increase of satisfied customers using the company’s services in the last few years and are excited about the opportunity with TFG.

TFG ecommerce head Robyn Cooke said the initiative gave those that currently don’t shop online access to do so.

“People who are at work all day don’t have someone at home to receive a parcel, and can’t have their shopping delivered to their work can now also access full ranges of products online and in the evenings when they are relaxed at home, or on the go during the daily commute,” Cooke said.

Ventureburn reported in April that this partnership is one of many that TFG plan to make in the future.

“We know that exceptional tech talent usually prefers working in the edgier startup space, rather than at a big corporate where their freedom and creativity is more likely to be stifled. So working with startups enables us to access that very scarce talent,” said TFG CIO Brent Curry in an interview with Ventureburn.
