Last month saw a sold out Seedstars South Africa final at the Standard Bank Auditorium in Rosebank, Johannesburg — with Cape Town startup EMGuidance clinching top spot.
The startup, which solves a critical problem for medical professionals by aggregating medical content from regional experts in one app, beat off nine other startups.

The company will now go on to represent South Africa at the Seedstars Global Summit in April next year, and will have an opportunity to compete for $500 000 in investment capital, participation in the Africa Regional Summit and a global network in over 80 countries around the world.

Meet the 10 finalists that competed in SA’s Seedstars World final
The 10 finalists, including EMGuidance were selected following pitching events held in Cape Town and Johannesburg. Three other startups had secured wildcard spots in the Seedtsars South Africa final, these were Lenoma Legal, Zlto and Home Farm.

Invoiceworx – a working capital financing company aimed at providing access to inventory financing to small retailers
Lenoma Legal – South Africa’s first Legal eCommerce website with instant legal document download capability for business owners
mbora – a solar-powered Internet of Things (IoT) enabled sensing suite that delivers real-time visibility to a service provider across its entire network
Muzi – a health and wellness startup that aims to improve accuracy and create valuable epidemiology data for HIV screening
