Listen to how startup founders messed up, Fuckup Nights is back in Cape Town

FuckUp Nights (FUN) has returned to the Mother City, with co-working space Cape Town Office announcing yesterday that it will be hosting the fifth chapter of FuckUp Nights (FUN) in Cape Town, on Monday, 4 September.

In a press release to Ventureburn yesterday, Cape Town Office founder and director Lizelle van Rhyn said the event will be held at Bob’s District Six, 46A Canterbury St, Zonnebloem, from 18h00 to 21h00, doors open at 17h30.

“This is the fifth FUN instalment in the Mother City after a self-imposed winter interval, and for this one we are collaborating with CoCreate2Accelerate, a programme in Cape Town initiated by the Dutch Consulate General and Startup Safari,” said Van Rhyn.

Started in Mexico in 2012, Fuck Up Nights is a global event in cities like New York, London, Tel Aviv and Barcelona that follows a standard format. Each evening features three to four speakers, who address the audience for seven minutes, using 10 images to support the discussion.

“We look at successful entrepreneurs and we imagine a rosy path to success; on the contrary, it has more than often taken many failures to perfect strategies and executions. FUN provides an informal playground for sharing those dear failures and support a tremendous learning curve among business people” says Van Rhyn.

After each speaker, questions are opened to the floor, followed by a relaxed session to grab a drink and get to know new people.

“The line-up changes every month and I cannot wait to be inspired by the lessons these brave movers and shakers have bestowed on themselves on their way to success”, added Van Rhyn.
