South African startups in the transport and logistics sector have until Sunday (1 October) to apply to join the join the six-month long MAN Truck and Bus Impact Accelerator.
In an announcement on its website, the truck manufacturer said the programme — which aims to scale social ventures in transport and logistics — will kick off at the Global Social Business Summit in Paris this November.

The programme will then see participants travel to Munich, Mumbai, Cape Town and San Francisco with a final pitch day scheduled for Munich in June next year.
To be considered for the programme startups must be able to prove that the solutions they are developing “create tangible and measurable impact beyond financial returns”.
The accelerator is in search of technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT), data analytics, healthtech, blockchain, chatbots, drones and aerospace, smart sensors, agritech, edutech, cybersecurity, and smart data.
MAN Truck and Bus Impact Accelerator will not provide funding, participating startups will each get $50 000 in support
Successful startups will be selected based on their industry expertise, traction, business model, impact as well as overall fit with the rest of the cohort.
Although the zero-equity accelerator will not provide any funding, the selected startups will each get $50 000 in support, including free software and data services, travel and accommodation.
In addition, participants will also get access to mentors from commercial vehicle manufacturer MAN, cloud computing company Salesforce and non-profit venture fund and accelerator Yunus Social Business (YSB).
