treadFEST 2017 presents five stages with a mix of music genres: Gangs of Ballet, DJ Ali and Mathew Mole are just three among a host of bands and DJs in the pipeline.
When the award-winning, Durban based, alternative rock band Gangs of Ballet lost their bassist, it didn’t stop them in their tracks. They just became a gang of three (comprising brothers, Brad and Josh Klynsmith, and Jonny Rich) and so refined their distinctive sound.

After the enormous success of their first album, yes/no/grey the challenge was to move forward to even greater things. Becoming a trio was just part of that journey. treadFEST welcomes this awesome band to their December line-up.
Italian born DJ Ali was exposed to the DJ industry at the age of 14 and couldn’t get enough of it. From mixing, to analysing the crowd, to speaking to the crowd, he knew at once that this was a relationship which would never end.
Through long hours and hard work DJ Ali has proved that dreams do come true. Come share his dreams at the big treadFEST party.
Neo-folk and blues lovers need no introduction to Matthew Mole. In his own words, he tries to “live my life a little differently to the way most people think it should be done”.
Which makes Matthew a perfect fit for treadFEST. He hopes that his musical adventure will help others to enjoy whatever adventure they are taking. With such awesome successes as “Take Yours”, “I’ll Take Mine”, “Same Parts, Same Heart” and “Jess’ Song”, Matthew Mole is a great contributor to the treadFEST adventure.
In addition to great music, treadFEST activities range from hiking and cycling to sunrise yoga; from outdoor movies to Battle of the Bands to War of the Words.
