There are loads of competitions, networking sessions and workshops happening around South Africa and the rest of the continent (namely Kenya, Nigeria and Ghana) that we’ve rounded up to make your life a bit easier.

Heavy Chef Year End Celebration

Heavy Chef and Huawei are hosting the leaders of the top five most exciting startups in South Africa, as voted by members of Heavy Chef’s community, each startup leader will present a 10-minute presentation on how they’re changing the world.

The keynote for the evening will be presented by  Silicon Valley angel investor Zach Coelius who sold his previous startup to LinkedIn in 2015 and recently led the angel round in Cruise Automation that led to a $1-billion sale to General Motors last year.

African Youth Leadership and Entrepreneurship Summit 2017

With an expected 1000 delegates, 100 exhibitors and 10 speakers, the African Youth Leadership and Entreprneurship Summit will be the one of the biggest entrepreneurship events to ever be hosted in Angola.

The summit will feature mentorship, conference, summit, business funding, networking opportunities, exhibition, and town hall meetings.

AUC Venture Lab Fintech Accelerator Demo Day

The AUC Venture Lab in collaboration is holding a demo day of five startups at different stages. The startups will showcase their development through the cycle as well as share plans on how they expect to take their businesses to the next level.

Ivory Coast

Africa Fintech Forum 2017

Join the Africa Fintech Forum for two days of debates, round tables, interviews and conferences that will bring together presidents and key leaders of the international financial ecosystem, as well as the leaders of the main fintech of Ivory Coast and the sub-region.

Africa Fintech Hackathon

This hackathon has been organised by the Africa Fintech Forum to focus on three categories, namely: financial and social inclusion, modernising and upgrading African banking insurance and security controls around money laundering, and terrorist financing.

Seedstars Africa Regional Summit

After visiting more than 20 different countries in Africa between May to November, Seedstars is bringing together the best entrepreneurs from across the continent for a regional conference and bootcamp.

The summit will end with a regional conference, an event open to public and filled with disruptive gatherings. Planned events include networking sessions, inspirational talks and workshops about how to impact people’s lives in emerging markets through entrepreneurship and technology.

ThinkAfrica Startup Nigeria: Innovation, collaboration and creation

Come join ThinkAfrica’s first annual startup roundtable. This is a new initiative that will consist of a panel of six to seven entrepreneurs that have created their own successful startups in Nigeria.

The event will feature speakers from various industries addressing challenges relevant to starting businesses in their respective industries and how they were able to overcome them.
