For those working in startups, Lean (startup) coffee is a weekly one-hour coffee meetup that runs a mashup of leancoffee.org with theleanstartup.com.

This workshop aims to equip you with all you need to know about the blockchain. Topics covered will not only give you a good understanding of the blockchain and how it works but also discuss current and future applications and how they are being implemented to change the world, focusing specifically on Ethereum.
The training provides participants with a technical understanding of blockchain, cryptography and Ethereum, without requiring programming skills or prior knowledge of the blockchain.

Fall ArmyWorm Tech Prize
The Fall Army Worm (FAW) poses a serious threat to Africa’s food security. The problem calls for digital tools and approaches that source, analyse and translate data for farmers and relevant stakeholders to make timely and accurate decisions to combat the spread of the armyworm.
Nesta, on behalf of Feed the Future, USAID, Land O’ Lakes International Development (LOL) and the Foundation for Food and Agriculture Research (FFAR) have launched a prize, looking for tools and approaches that can work in different contexts across the African continent. Join this event to understand the finer details of the FAW Tech Prize and how to go about applying.

Rebasadi x J&B Hive Reflections Sessions: Farah Chirene Fortune
This event is part of an interview-style series profiling one entrepreneur as they share their journey, challenges and opportunities doing business in South Africa.
Next up on the couch is Farah Chirene Fortune who in 2008 single-handedly started African Star Communications with R1000 in her pocket, a laptop and cellphone. She will be interviewed by music journalist and radio personality Helen Herimbi.

Egypt
Seedstars World is coming back to Cairo. Five of the best Egyptian startups will be invited to pitch in front of an investment panel and compete to be crowned the most promising seed-stage startup of Seedstars Cairo 2018.
The winning startup will take part in the regional and global Seedstars Summits that include a bootcamp and investor forum. In addition to seeing the top startups pitch, this day will also mark the grand opening of Seedspace Cairo.
