Parkfind, an app developed by Street Parking Solutions (SPS), allows users to search for, navigate to and pay for parking anywhere in the Cape Town central business district (CBD) in real time.
SPS claims that Parkfind is Africa’s first search, navigation and payment app.

New to the app? Here are a three Parkfind facts around availability, reliability and security.
1.Eight to five on weekdays
You can only use the app between 8am and 5pm on weekdays, as well as between 8am and 1pm on Saturdays. Users will not be able to use the app to locate and pay for parking on public holidays, Sundays or after 5pm on weekdays.
2.Real time updates
Because Parkfind relies on a network of infrared Internet of Things (IoT) enabled sensors installed on parking bays around the Cape Town city centre, information on parking pins — which show availability — is updated by the minute.

The app also uses mobile automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) software on each of the hand-held units that the 300 SPS marshals in the CBD are equipped with in addition to body-worn cameras.
This allows the company to record every parking transaction that shows the GPS location where someone parked, the colour of their car, how long they stayed for and their license plate number scan.
3.Secure in-app payments
Although you can still use Parkfind without an account by paying using cash. Parkfind users who want to make in-app payments will need to create an account. This entails linking a debit or credit card — users can add up to two cards per account.
Parkfind currently employs PayGate‘s payment engine which is certified Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) Level 1 compliant by cybersecurity solutions company Sysnet.
