Here are the 8 startups that will pitch at Seedstars Casablanca this Friday

Their football team may have been knocked out of the World Cup at the group stage, but in just days Moroccans can look forward to another top competition — Seedstars, one of the largest competitions for emerging market based startups.

This Friday (6 July) will see eight of Morocco’s best seed stage startups compete in Casablanca to represent the country at the Seedstars Summit in Switzerland and win up to $1-million in equity investment and other prizes.

The pitching contest will take place at LaFactory, an organisation which helps link startups with big companies.

Last year’s winning startup representing Morocco at the Seedstars World competition in Switzerland was Hooplacar with their innovative solution to connects brands with drivers to create on-vehicle advertising campaigns, live monitored through GPS tracking and marketing KPIs.

The eight startups will pitch for a chance to represent the country at the Seedstars Summit in Switzerland and win up to $1-million in equity investment

Seedstars announced the eight startups in a press release today. They are:

Indatacore: The startup’s SkyAnalytics solution is based on data science, document analysis and facial biometric recognition.
Medtrucks: This company’s solution makes health reachable for all by deploying medical mobile units and mapping tools (see Ventureburn’s earlier story here).
Popaddress: This marketplace helps connect brands and businesses with landlords for short term rental space.
Tripblan SARL: Picture Steemit for travel, travel guides, itineraries and packages based on the experiences of like-minded friends and travellers.
UnitedCoin: Banks make billions of dollars a year using your money. You receive nothing. UnitedCoin is bank services with monthly member rewards.
Valenvi: This startup provides eco-friendly solutions to manage and recycle waste at offices and we design and manufacturer recycling bins
Weego – Transit App: This is a collaborative app that allows all its users to move easily with public transit.
Zelij Invent: This company produces construction products such as pavers and floor tiles using a new formula based on 80% of plastic waste,

Seedstars World is closely working with OCP group and Avito.ma in running the event.

The startups will pitch in front of a jury that consists of PGSInvest partner Mehdi Ghorfi, Africinvest senior investment manager Omar Laalej, OCP Entrepreneurship Network director Outmane El Hassani, Avito.ma CEO Ghassouli Zakaria and Seedstars country managing director Aziz Oujdi.
