In all, 10 startups pitched at the event which was held in the Angolan capital last Friday (12 October).
A panel of judges that included BFA Asset Management CEO Rui Oliveira, TGI president Alexander Thompson-Payan, Kianda Hub managing director Joel Epalanga, Unitel head of innovation Juelson Bartolomeu, Banco Millennium Atlantico board member Odyle Vieira Dias Cardoso and Seedstars World regional manager Claudia Makadristo selected the winners.
Kubinga will now represent Angola at the Seedstars Africa and global summits
By winning Seedstars Luanda, Kubinga has secured an opportunity to represent Angola at Seedstar’s Africa and global summits. At the global conference in Lausanne, the startup stands a chance to win up to $1-million in funding.
Kubinga was founded last year by Alan Santos (pictured above, right). The ride-sharing service aims to address unemployment in Angola as well as tackle Angola’s expensive private transport sector. The startup’s service can be accessed via its iOS and Android apps.
