UPDATE (29 January 2019): A Pronoia spokesman told Ventureburn today (29 January) that the Blockchain Investment Roadshow which was set to take place on 14 and 15 February has been moved “to the end of the year” due to the (un)availability of keynote speakers.
A Singapore-based platform for data-driven knowledge dissemination and exchange, Pronoia, has announced that it will next month host what it claims to be Africa’s first artificial intelligence (AI)-driven blockchain conference in Cape Town.

The conference — titled the Blockchain & Investment Roadshow — will take place on 14 and 15 February. The location of the event is yet to be confirmed.
In a statement yesterday (8 January), Pronoia said Global Gaming Africa CEO John Kamara, fintech hub Lattice 80 founder and Marvelstone chairman Joe Seunghyun Cho, Consensys South Africa lead Monica Singer and Limitless Crypto Investments managing partner Matthew Jordan will be among the 50 speakers expected to talk at the event.

In all, Pronoia expects that over 500 attendees and 30 exhibitors will turn up for the event. Pronoia co-founder Deepak Jhavar (pictured above) said in the same statement that the event will offer startups the opportunity to meet “leading figures” in the blockchain world.
“By hosting an event like this Pronoia hopes to not only provide unique opportunity and insights for attendees but also plans to disrupt the ever expanding tech conference landscape,” said Jhavar.
Those that attend the conference, Pronoia stated, will be provided with opportunities to network with leading investors, startups and influencers.
In addition, the latest trends in Initial Coin Offerings (ICOs), blockchain and virtual currency markets will also be on the agenda with startups set to be provided a chance to take part in one-on-one meetings with private investors.
Keynote presentations, panel discussions and technical presentation will take place centre stage.
Fully automated
Pronoia said the Blockchain & Investment Roadshow — which aims to bring all things blockchain under one roof — is “almost fully automated”. The firm explained that speaker and sponsor leads are generated through AI, saving both time and resources. The company further claimed its events can be operated “through a team of two rather than 200”.
In an email to Ventureburn today (9 January), a Pronoia spokesman said Jhavar along with fellow Pronoia co-founder Vijay Walter first developed the idea for AI-driven conferences last year when they noticed a gap in AI and automation in the tech conference industry.
The duo will, later this year, host AI-driven conferences in Singapore, Paris and Dubai, with another conference on AI set to take place in Cape Town between 25 and 26 April.
