African female entrepreneurs with innovative businesses that have the potential to transform the continent have until Friday (15 February) to apply for this year’s edition of the Women In Africa 54 Awards.

The awards are an initiative of Women In Africa (WIA). The Paris-based organisation aims to promote, support and accelerate innovative enterprises run or managed by female African entrepreneurs.

Now in its third year, the initiative will see 54 female entrepreneurs — one from every African country (not including the disputed territory of Western Sahara) — selected to join WIA’s entrepreneurship programme and network.

To be considered for the awards, applicants must be behind a scalable company with an innovative product or service with a high social impact. This year, the focus of the awards is on six sectors, namely: education, health, energy, fintech, social and digital, as well as agriculture.

An international panel will in April select 54 winners from a pre-selected shortlist.

Those selected will be invited on an all-expenses-paid trip to the International WIA Annual Summit — which will be held on 27 and 28 June in Marrakesh, Morocco — where they will meet with over 500 delegates who include investors, top executives and media from around the world.

At the summit, each of the 54 winners will be provided with a booth which will allow them to exhibit their activity and meet potential partners and investors.

In addition, by joining WIA’s network, winners also stand to benefit from business meetings organised during the summit, as well as regional and local meetings.

WIA award winners will also receive access to WIA’s Link digital platform where they can interact with other entrepreneurs and international executives.

In addition, award recipients stand to benefit from one year of mentorship from corporates, a two-day bootcamp set to take place before WIA’s annual summit and scholarships offered in partnership with Honoris.
