The application deadline for Season 2 of the FbStart Accelerator has been extended to this Saturday (7 July). Entries were initially set to close on Sunday (30 June).
The six month accelerator programme aims to support teams in Nigeria and Ghana that are using advanced technologies like artificial intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), data science, virtual reality and augmented reality (AR and VR) to build innovative solutions to local and global problems.

The accelerator is run by Facebook and Co-Creation Hub (CcHub). Applications for the programme are open to Nigerian and Ghanaian startups and students.
FbStart Accelerator programme participants can benefit from up to $36 000 in funding and product credits
Those selected to join the programme stand to benefit from up to $36 000 in equity-free funding and product credits. Additional benefits of the programme include:
- Matching with industry advisors
- Access to corporate and the Innovation Showcase Week
- A dedicated Facebook mentor
- One-on-one suport from in-house finance, human resources and product experts
The inaugural cohort of Lagos-based FbStart Accelerator raised over $400 000 in grants and investments during the programme, after their ideas received some initial traction (see this story).
