AfriTech XYZ programme to support 19 early-stage startups

Do It Now Now, a London-based company that connects African founders to experts and investors, is looking to support 19 early-stage startups through its nine-month AfriTech XYZ virtual accelerator programme.

The programme — which is run in partnership with PYPR, Strand Sahara, and Google learning space Academy London — is aimed at high-growth potential startups from Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa and Uganda.

Applications for the programme will close on 30 September.

To be considered for the programme, startups must have been active for up to five years. In addition, the majority of the team must either have attended university or be based in one of the following Africa countries: Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, Uganda and Zambia.

Applicants must have at least one woman in their leadership team, a working protoype, and an active customer base. In addition, to qualify startups must not have receive more than £20 000 in grants, investment and or prizes.

Startups selected for the free virtual accelerator programme stand to benefit from:

  • Access to the exclusive AfriTech XYZ
  • Connections to hubs, incubators and accelerators
  • One-to-one mentoring from skilled professionals
  • Expert video-based teaching in key startup areas like go-to-market strategies, talent acquisition, financial forecasting and investment
  • Support to develop a pitch deck

AfriTech XYZ’s selection committee includes former MEST Africa managing director Aaron Fu and Google’s head of startup success and services Fola Olatunji-David.

The names of the startups selected to participate in the programme will be announced on 14 October.

Do It Now Now hopes the programme will equip participants to overcome key challenges in their business, get them widespread support that the founders can use to help them gain funding from local and international early-stage venture capitalists.
