Team from Kenyan startup Copia among Endeavor’s latest entrepreneurs to join fold
Three entrepreneurs behind Kenyan consumer goods catalogue and delivery service Copia have been selected to join Endeavor, a non-profit organisation that supports high-impact entrepreneurs around the world.
The three — Tim Steel, Crispin Murira and Tracey Turner (who is pictured above) — are part of 37 high-impact entrepreneurs leading 21 companies from 15 markets that the organisation selected at Endeavor’s 90th International Selection Panel (ISP) held in Atlanta, Georgia, from 23 to 25 September.
The announcement of the names of the 37 entrepreneurs was made by Endeavor in a recent blog post.
Endeavor now supports 1967 entrepreneurs leading 1227 companies in 35 markets around the world.
Once selected, Endeavor Entrepreneurs gain access to comprehensive customized services, including introductions to local and international business mentors and volunteers from Fortune 500 consulting firms who will help them address key needs.
According to Tracey Turner’s LinkedIn page, Copia the company was founded in Silicon Valley in 2013
Copia, which was founded by Americans Tracey Turner and Jonathan Lewis, uses technology and a network of over 3000 local agents to deliver goods and services to about 40 000 underserved consumers in rural Kenya.
According to Turner’s LinkedIn page, the company — which today is headquartered in Nairobi — was founded in Silicon Valley in 2013. The company’s website however has it that it was founded in 2012, while US business publication Bloomberg states that Copia Global was formerly known as TTJL and was incorporated in 2010 in Tiburon, California, with a location in Nairobi, Kenya.
In January the company secured a $2-million investment from Dutch impact investor Goodwell Investments (see this story).
The latest selection follows Endeavor’s selection of six new entrepreneurs from three African countries in May (see this story).
