The UK’s Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) has called on healthtech startups from Kenya, Nigeria and South Africa to apply for its TeXchange 2020: Healthcare Innovation programme.
The DCMS said in a statement on its blog last month that the initiative will bring tech leaders together to exchange ideas, share learnings and gain exposure to the UK market.

The DCMS said one startup each from Nigeria, Kenya and South Africa will be selected to travel to the UK in February along with delegations from India and Israel. Applications will close this Friday (11 October).

TeXchange 2020 will focus on healthcare and will explore new technologies’ impact on the sector.
The programme will particularly zero-in on artificial intelligence (AI) and big data in healthcare, early detection of diseases, population health, telemedicine and diagnostics.
The immersive three-day programme offers participants direct access to the UK’s top healthcare corporate and government agencies through public events, meet-ups and presentations.
Key stakeholders involved in the programme include healthcare startups, British healthcare companies and leading UK service providers and intermediaries.
The DCMS said it was in the process of securing several companies as partners for the programme. These it said include NHSX, Axa Insurance, Boots, Astrazeneca, Centrica, Pfizer, and LSX.
