The 2019 Orange Social Venture Prize winners are from Cameroon, Liberia and Madagascar

The Interactive Neonatal Incubator AUI 1.0 concept was designed in Dschang, West Cameroon.

J-Palm Liberia, which manages and operates mini oil pal mills in partnership with rural communities, was named the runner up and was awarded €15 000.

Orange said in a statement that J-Palm Liberia has increased palm oil extraction rates by 50% while reducing processing time, to improve the incomes of smallholders.

Madagascan ride-hailing marketplace Flit Ride was placed second and was awarded €10 000.

In addition to their cash prizes, the three winners will each receive six months of support from one of Oranges’s partners.

Now in its ninth year, the Orange Social Venture Prize aims to promote social innovation by supporting high-tech solutions (those based on mobile tech and the internet) that serve the needs of the poor in Africa and the Middle East.
