The coronavirus has seen the cancellation of a number of startup events across Africa.
In addition, yesterday the South African government banned all gatherings of over 100 people. It follows similar measures by Kenya, Morocco and Egypt, among other African countries. More African countries are likely to be added to this list.

It’s why the list this week of events looks near empty.
Johannesburg the three-day Civic Tech Innovation Network forum, set to begin on Wednesday (18 March), is likely to be cancelled, as is Nairobi’s Digital Agenda: Africa’s Digital Transformation in Insurance Summit 2020, which was set to start on Thursday (19 March).
For now, the best will be to double check if any of these events and others are still going ahead before turning up.

Following the success of the last edition, the Women in Tech Africa Summit is this eyar offering an extensive range of career and personal development workshops, enlightening discussions, and inspiring keynote presentations from trailblazing advocates who are speaking out to challenge the gender status quo.

When it comes to business, sales techniques are key to success. In this workshop, which is part of Vodacom Fast Forward Series will be presented by Sandras Phiri, the CEO of African Trust Academy and director of Startup Grind, Cape Town.
Phiri has worked with over 25 organisations and has lectured at over 20 universities. He has worked in banking, mobile payments, unit trusts and IT in South Africa and Zambia and has run his own businesses in IT and entertainment.

This conference is for all people who are interested in how new technologies could enable better services and relationships between government and citizens.
Taiwan’s Digital Minister Audrey Tang will speak at the three-day forum, which is hosted by The Civic Tech Innovation Network (CTIN). The forum aims to bring together SA’s civic tech community.

The first edition of the Entrepreneurs’ Fair is a monthly event in Abidjan. The event aims to bring together all resident entrepreneurs, whatever their nationality.

The Entrepreneur Student Fair is an event that brings together all students from all fields combined around debates, conferences and panels made by professionals with the aim of inculcating the spirit of Entrepreneurship in the student.

The Digital Agenda: Africa’s Digital Transformation in Insurance Summit 2020 aims to facilitate the exchange of thoughts and strategic partnerships.
The conference will cover current trends such as the opportunities and threats of a digital world, blockchain technology, Internet of Things (IoT), chatbot implementation, artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning, regulation in digital insurance.
